I think age got the best of Sable this year, her boys (Ranger & Indy) did circles around her. Her heart still goes full throttle for the birds but she just can't compete.

I am sad to retire her this year she has been an absolute great bird dog with many field stories to tell, she has produced the next generation to our program and many great family hunting dogs. Hopefully she will be like her grandparents were and we will be able to enjoy her as a pet for many more years.

Sable has been actively hunted on all upland, waterfowl and fall turkey. She has found several down deer, and a few black bear by blood trailing. Sable was and continues to be easy to train she works well with other dogs and with anybody. She will not stay out of the water! She has out-smarted cripple geese and a cripple turkey, she was unable to bring the turkey back so she stood on it until we go to her. Her retrieveing drive and nose has been excellent and passed down to her pups.
